Karla García – Toronto Guitarist, Music Creator & Educator.

Hi! I’m Karla García, a guitarist, music creator, and educator originally from the beautiful island of Chiloé, Chile. Growing up surrounded by its rich culture and stunning landscapes deeply shaped my love for music and inspired me to explore the expressive power of the guitar.
I studied at the Conservatory of the University of Chile, learning from some of the country’s most renowned guitarists, including José Antonio Escobar and Romilio Orellana. This training gave me a solid classical foundation and the tools to blend traditional Latin American sounds with contemporary acoustic styles — a blend that continues to shape my performances and compositions today.
Early in my career, I had the privilege of performing and teaching at guitar festivals in Chile, including the renowned Entrecuerdas Festival and Guitarras al Puerto. I also competed internationally, and in 2010 was honored with the Best Performer Award at the César Cortinas Guitar Contest in Uruguay — an achievement that fueled my passion for performance and education. These experiences allowed me to share my music and teach aspiring musicians, shaping my career as both a performer and educator.
Since moving to Toronto, I’ve performed with incredible ensembles and musicians. Highlights include playing Joaquín Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez with the Ontario Pops Orchestra at Meridian Arts Centre, performing with the SPO Orchestra where I shared the stage with acclaimed Lebanese oudist Charnel Rouhana and conductor Ron Royer, performing with the Northumberland Orchestra, and participating in a special tribute to the legendary guitarist Liona Boyd at Canada’s Walk of Fame — an unforgettable experience shared with some of Canada’s finest musicians.
In addition to performing, I create original music, drawing inspiration from memories, migration, and my Chilean roots. I also work as a session musician, collaborating with other artists in the studio. Currently, I’m focused on producing my debut album, a project that reflects my personal musical journey and artistic voice.
Whether you’re looking for an experienced Toronto guitarist for a wedding or special event, a music creator or session musician for a project, or online guitar lessons, I’d love to connect. Feel free to reach out — let’s make music together!
